I've never heard the tire thing.
The cement and battery thing is pure BS. A buddy did design work for Optima, putting them on cement is actually better for them, it is usually cooler.
True, when I worked at les Schwab as a tire buster in my 20s the batteries always sat on the concrete. I think it's worse for the concrete cause battery acid eats away at the concrete.
