I have my stock system also, am/fm, cassette, cd is fine for me. My Ranger is my DD and I listen to the radio every time I drive it but it is mostly the cd's. I do not need a fancy stereo, phone hook up, or a back up camera for that matter. The only time I am backing up is into my parking space at work, or into my driveway at home, & I mostly use my side mirrors or turn around & look out the back window to back up.
Its obviously to each his own, but I drive long distances in my vehicles, and listen to audio books. Bluetooth from my phone to the car radio is really nice to facilitate that. The cost to upgrade to a large screen double dinn was negligible over the cost of a non large screen double dinn (I think I paid $190) I added a backup camera, not because I cannot backup, but because I was doing the work anyways, and figured it was a small cost to add something useful. and I do find it useful for two things, 1) hooking up a trailer, and 2) off road when I ever have to back up. for me, it was all about taking advantage of the work I was already doing.
