I see your point but I remember back in 1983 I had a job as a professional fork lift driver (though in Michigan they were referred to as "Hi Lows"). I took to the Hyster Electrics. The range of acceleration, speed of acceleration and raw torque they had could not be matched by any fueled hilo. I wondered daily "why haven't they done this with cars" Now if internet had existed back then I could have quickly researched and seen it did exist but wasn't mainstream, mostly because of battery weight and design. I do agree there is something about the sound of a ground pounder V8 that is mesmerizing. As a child I wondered why the reciprocating piston internal combustion engine still existed since it was just bling on an old inefficient design. People still don't see how much you lose with a rod being jerked back and forth 100 times a second X 8. I'm amazed they have it working as well as they do.
