I have paid body shops and had terrible results
So I started to do all my own bodywork
Needless to say I don't do paintjobs!  If I did I would use enamel and no clear coat. Where we used to live, in the high mountains of Colorado with the super harsh UV rays eats clear coat in short order.
With all these vehicles we maintain around here washing, waxing detailing can take alot of my shop time. Since we use our trucks off road so much, for me it just made sense to skip the paint and go with a coating instead.
The monstaliner we use I am very happy with. Its not perfect, but paint is hardly ever perfect either. If you drive your vehicle the paint will get messed up, that is just how it goes! Now with the coatings I don't worry about any of the paint related issues anymore...it is pretty nice! Paint on a daily driven vehicle is just a real PITA!!!
I promised my wife when she paid off her FJ we would change the color. She has owned SEVERAL yellow vehicles in her life but when we went FJ shopping in 2007 that was the only FJ around. So when she paid it off I was happy to spend only $500 on the paint job. Of course it took me two weeks because its a stinkin FJ cruiser...but still only $500 to change the color! Usually this would be more like $15000 for a factory quality paint job.

I feel for ya, its your truck you can be as picky as you want. For me I think trying to keep a nice paint job is a bad idea...since we live back here in the woods off a 2 mile mud/dirt/snow/rock/tree covered trail of a driveway :). You will see when you bring your beautiful truck back here to my shop.
