Before I begin act two there are a few things I wanted to share. I had a hard time finding a paint shop that would paint the entire truck. Of the 3 places that would, one wanted 10k just to prep for paint. The guy kept talking about the Porsche he painted that was on the cover of some magazine. So I passed on them because they were too full of themselves and I figured he wouldnt do a good job unless it was an exotic sports car. The second shop was apprehensive doing the entire truck because it was more than they usually do and as busy as he was he thought it might take him a month but he gave me an estimate anyway. The third shop had no issues doing the whole truck and said he could do it in 2 weeks. All 3 shops had good reputations and had been in business for a long time. The 2 that gave me estimates were within $500 of each other. I went with the 3rd shop. But before I dropped it off I realized he was only painting the body. I had him quote me a price for the bumpers, mirrors, grill and tailgate. That added another $2k. My boss had reluctantly agreed on the original estimate but I knew he wouldnt pay for the rest so that came out of my pocket. I scheduled the job for july 29th 2017 and scheduled my vacation for the same dates. I had the interior detailed before I dropped it off so when I recieved the truck it would be mint inside and out. I dropped the truck off and was assured it would be done in 2 weeks. I called the day before it supposed to be done and the owner said, we got 2 weeks right?.....ugh!!! Yeah from the date I dropped it off I said. So that's when I said, I'd rather you take as much time as you need to do a good job. I dont want a rush job. I worked really hard to have this done and want a good job. As you can see by the dates on my posts they dropped the ball by a considerable amount and basically took advantage of my kindness and back burned my truck for 2 months before they actually started to work on it. I work very near to this shop often and I never saw my truck outside so I assumed it was being worked on and the owner assured me each week that work had started. I dropped by unannounced and the owner walked me out to the front of the shop to a white car. He said feel this. He told me that's how smoothe my truck was going to be. Later on he said the car had the porcelain protection on it. So I cant even be sure he painted the car but it was just another way to placate me and get me out of there without knowing if my truck was really being worked on. So I'll post act two later on tonight. Thank you for reading! Last edited on Fri Nov 16th, 2018 08:15 pm by Eddie Money ____________________ I know my crazy!
