I decided to get organized and consolidate a thread I started at another place and continue to the present. I reference my disatifaction with my paint job in a lot of my posts so I thought I would start my project thread there. That way if anyone is interested why, they might understand. Also, it may help people who are considering repainting their ranger. I'll also post the link to the original if anyone is interested in some of the replays others contributed but I didnt transfer here. I have had 3 rangers. My first was a 87 black 2door 2WD 4spd 4cyl. I paid $700 fo it and it only had 60k miles. It was hit on the passenger side by a drunk driver and the insurance totaled it out. I got $2,750 for it. I used that to buy a 94 cougar XR7 which was hit on the passenger side, only I was the drunk driver this time. My next ranger was a 99 red sport 4door 4WD 4.0L V6. I loved that truck!! I used it as a work truck till the tranny started to get soft at 200k miles. This was my first vehicle that I sold before it got in an accident or broke. That felt really weird. Before I sold it I bought my current 07 blue sport 4door 4WD 4.0L V 6. I was really attached to the red one and even though I had the 07 in the drive way I liked the 99 better at the time. I fixed everything that was broken in the 99 before I sold it because it was purchased for a daughter of a friend who was a new mother and I wanted to make sure it was dependable. 99 ranger sold now into Blue Magoo. I used Blue Magoo as a work truck for several years. I made an arrangement with my employer since everyone else had a company vehicle but me. Im a chimney Mason. The apprentices were trashing the exterior and bed. The company was not compensating me for the use of my truck or covering any maintenance or insurance. I was covered by the company insurance but my bank required I that be insured for full coverage till it was paid for. My only perk for using my truck was free gas. So the arrangement I made was, use my truck as long as needed then pay for the paint job and once I got a company vehicle I will never have to use my truck for anything but getting myself to the shop. I'll never have to haul tools, materials, or apprentices ever again. I also stipulated that it's not going to be a macco paint job. I told the boss my truck never complained and did everything he asked and was well maintained and always working so he better not complain about the paint job. Lol. Oh my gosh did he cry....any way that puts us at the topic of paint which is a thread I started elsewhere and am transferring here. Happy reading.
