There's also a large chance that if you own a white Ranger that seems like a stripped down base model truck, it'll use a very common fleet key. Like all of the squad cars did. You can tell by looking at the way the key is cut. If it's the same cut on both sides of the key, then it's a fleet key. It's a very basic cut that anyone could duplicate. Nothing complex about it, unlike house keys, etc.

Hundreds of thousands of Rangers were spec'd out as fleet trucks and painted white. Some were 4 cylinders and some were 3.0's or 4.0's and most were long beds.

If you like to have a back-up key available to store under your truck, then a key without the PATS chip is a nice, safe/secure option, since it'll let you in the truck but it won't start the engine.
