I looked and didn't anything on this topic, I'll try the search after I post this, but if some has a quick answer. Just bought this truck, 2001 XLT single cab. The cable for the spare hoist has been cut, I'm NOT driving around with a spare in the bed, I am hitting the salvage yards tomorrow and a replacement host is on my list. Are these a PITA to remove? Should I just buy new if they're cheap enough, if so where is a good place for parts like these besides the dealer? Thanks
Never had to replace one either. I could see it being difficult to remove, as it lives under the truck in road grime. Give it a try. As for new, I have purchased from http://www.lmctruck.com/ and https://www.rockauto.com/ . Both are good.
