This is true, wear builds character. I haven't had my R1 1911 all that long, which is what surprised me on the wear side of things. My Beretta which sees daily handling hasn't even began to wear. Granted, the holster I'm using now is Kydex and not leather.

I'm wanting to have something cerakoted. What I'd really like to have is a 92A1 or even an M9A3 in an inox color, but Beretta doesn't make such an animal unfortunately. I've been tossing around the idea of buying either another 92A1 or the M9A3 and sending it to be cerakoted to kind of mimic the inox color. Not sure what I'm going to do with the R1 at this point.

I saw this 92FS on the cerakote gallery and I'm really digging it. My R1 might wind up with a custom job like this.
