The alignment shop will know if there is anything else needed.Something did move, they SHOULD find it.
If it is an option I would take it to a shop that deals with frames also, most frame shops do alignments just to complete their frame work.
My best GUESS is something happened to the rack. I would hope your brother at least pitches in on the repair cost.
Even if the alignment shop is Walmart? Lol, a couple family members work at Walmart and I need tires and dont have a lot of cash, so they're helping me out with tires and alignment for my birthday tomorrow. Yes, I thought the rack was messed up as well and I've actually got a rack and pinion sitting in my room right now, but I don't know how to put it on. It seems simple enough, but I've heard I would need some sort of vacuum pump to recirculate the power steering fluid. And yes, you would hope he would help, but when he returned my truck after driving it into the ditch he didn't even get the glass out from the broken window or offer to pay for any damages, and still isnt offering after I've put a good amount of money and parts into it to get it back to somewhat normal. I've been driving it for while and nothing seems wrong. No popping when I turn lock to lock, no power steering whine, steering isnt loose. I assumed the gear going from the steering linkage to the rack may have skipped some teeth on the rack, but everything seems fine. No "death wobble" either, so we'll see Thursday and I'll post an update!
