The .38 Super is about 10% more than a +P 9mm and the 10mm has numbers that are similar to a 41 magnum but it is on a semi-auto platform. I don't care for the 10mm in a 1911 platform but the 38Super is tolerable. They have a lot of kick so they have quite a bit of grip bite when they are fired. My first experience with 10mm was a Delta Elite Colt 1911 that my dad had back in the late 80's. It was a painful gun to shoot. The grip bite was bad enough that one shot was enough. I shoot another 10mm in the 1911 platform a few year latter and decided 10mm was not a caliber that I was interested in. Fast forward to the late 90's I was at the range with a buddy and he handed me a large framed glock. It was a 10mm and it had heavy recoil but did not have the grip bite. I ended up buying one and shot about 1k rounds through it until I traded it for something else. The .38 super is a reloaders dream caliber. Cheap 9mm projectiles with just a little more powder getting impressive velocities. It can be loaded down to mouse fart loads up to 115gr bullets that are spit out at 1600fps. It is about half way between 9mm +p and 357mag. I have been thinking about getting one of these again. For either of these calibers I would want at least a 5" barrel but would prefer something in the 7" range.
