Several Rangers over the years have been converted to the 4406e shift, I do not remember any gas tank mods being needed. The information is out there.
Basically with the 4406 E shift, the electronic HVAC control conversion, the message center/ center console and the explorer overhead console you can build yourself a Eddie Bauer or Limited Ranger :)

5.0L 4r70W and 4406 E shift with V6 dash bezel 4x4 switch, add the under seat wiring loom that feeds the T case motor, then wire up the stand alone motorolla 4x4CM box (easy) and your done.

I have LOTS of the motorolla boxes with wiring pigtails, I also have the wiring diagrams for this when you need them = make a thread!!
