Except in a combat zone weapons are carried in condition 3 - magazine loaded, hammer down, and chamber empty. As an additional duty I was a comsec courier most of my military carrier. I had a lot of pistol training going from condition 3 to condition 1 (ready to fire).

Now my EDC is a Glock 37 45GAP. I carry in condition 3 with the magazine loaded, empty chamber and trigger pulled.
