Keep in mind that the Exploder 8.8" axle is also one inch wider than the Ranger 8.8" in total. Ranger 8.8" = 58 1/2" width Explorer 8.8" = 59 1/2" width 83-92 Ranger 7.5" axles are 1" shorter than 93+ Ranger 7.5" axles - this can create problems when swapping a newer Ranger 8.8" into an early Ranger. Wheel choice may be affected. (wheel offset) In my case the width was quite different. 87 Ranger 7.5" axle removed to install a later model Ranger 8.8" - so the overall width (from wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface) went from 56 1/2" to 58 1/2" and it was very noticeable. Had I used an Exploder axle, the width would have been 59 1/2" - or 3" wider than the 7.5" axle, in total.
