Need a cluster diagram for a 2001, I do know on the 97/2000 the fuel gauge and the check gauge light are wired to the slosh module. I had one go bad on my 2000 4wd original cluster, it never read full but would read low and trigger the light.

Anyone is the 2001 just like the 2000 with the gauge and light wired to the slosh module? If so that's your problem don't pull the pump again.
