I am a great fan of mending broken stuff - other possibilities are to drill out the centre of the screw in both halves then tap the holes to take a piece of studding, using thread locker to secure the studding or cross drilling for pins to lock it up. Or take the screw to a machine shop to make a new one shouldn't take someone I know very long to whizz one up on a CNC machine ......
