Isnt a record just a model of Irwin?
Record vices were made by C & J Hampton in Sheffield, UK from 1909 - 1972 when it merged with William Ridgway Ltd. to form Record-Ridgway Tools Ltd.
AB Bahco (Sweden) bought them out in 1981 and then in the 1998 they became a division of American Tool Companies Inc.
American Tool Companies Inc. became Irwin Tools in 2002 and is now owned by Black & Decker.
Mine is a genuine, Sheffield made Record from 1970 :)
