"DieHard - The brand dates to 1967. In its earliest years, the brand was guaranteed to last "forever", that is, as long as the original owner still owned the car in which it was originally installed

Some of the batteries themselves are manufactured by Johnson Controls, which also manufacture Duralast, Varta, AC Delco, as well as 20 other brands. For a time, DieHard batteries were also manufactured by Exide. In March 2001, Exide plead guilty to fraud conspiracy charges and agreed to pay a fine of $27.5 million to end a federal criminal investigation into auto battery sales to customers of Sears. The case arose from investigations and accusations that Exide conspired with Sears to sell used batteries as new to Sears customers and that Exide officials had paid bribes to conceal the fraud. However, they have switched back to Johnson Controls.

The DieHard Platinum line is made by EnerSys, which also makes its own line of premium Odyssey batteries manufactured in the United States"

From bad to worse and back again.. But I still Like my Exide batteries because of how they do perform.

And this is a load tester I bought years ago from Snap-On. it only works on a battery, NOT the electrical system. You have to separate it from the car or at least unhook it from it. It basically tells you if the battery is good or not. and although it does what it does.

If you do ONLY have a DVOM connected and pay attention to where the battery voltage drops [some meters have a low/high display pause], if it drops below 10 volts upon cranking to start, they say that battery has damaged cells and should be replaced. But you'd be hard pressed unless that battery is leaving you stranded that people wouldnt try to get by as long as they can on it, even with a system in their vehicles. My rule of thumb is if it stays above 10 volts you should replace it within the next week or two. If it dips into the 9 volt territory at all. We're pulling it right then and fetching a battery.
