I'm putting a Visor on my Ranger, my THING, the Visor has five lights known as Clearance Lighting. For a Pickup these lights are just about useless, for a larger truck they serve a purpose, so I guess I too am guilty of putting extra lights on the my truck, not the same one as you speak of but my purpose is to impress with lights, so I am guessing I am in the same boat.
Why don't you Ty-wrap a few of the lights in place, run some temporary wiring and see if the lighting effect is what you thought it would be and if it is and YOU like it, then do it. Like me and my Visor with Lights !
