I built a lightweight AR-15 .223 with a 16" for close quarter and short range using a red dot optic. I then decided II needed a medium range rifle (up to 600 yards) as well. I wanted a little more knock down than what a 223 offers and built a carbine 6.8spc AR and have about twice as much invested in the scope than the rest of the gun. I came across a very good deal on a AR-9 glock feed lower and sat on it for over a year because I couldn't decide whether to go pistol or SBR. I ended up building a pistol with a 9" barrel. My lightweight AR-15 has become a safe queen and the only reason I keep it is because it is my only AR in 223.
