I prefer Scotch and then Irish whiskey. Most of the American whiskeys are palatable (I will take Jim Beam over Gentleman Jack) but I would prefer the New Zealand or Welsh whiskys that I have had in the past.
Almost, most Scotch is Whisky but there are a few distilleries that label blends as Whiskey. There is also Australian whisky, Canadian whisky, English whisky, Finnish whisky, French Whisky, German whisky, Indian whisky, Japanese whisky, New Zealand whisky, South African whisky, and Welsh whisky. The Irish is Whiskey and most American distillers have whiskey but some of the craft distilleries have whisky.
That is the basic rundown. FYI, the entire world would be speaking Gaelic if the Irish had not figured out how to distill spirits.
