I believe it is. I guess if you REALLY wanted to, you could set it to use the bare minimum amount. That being said, I shouldn't be surprised. It's supposed to be loaded for the M1. If M2 ball was historically loaded a little hot for reliability, the manufacturer could have backed off by a grain or two, knowing what people would be doing with this ammunition. If this is the case, I applaud the manufacturer. I suppose it's also possible my M1 specifically just needs a lot of gas to work right. I only have a sample size of one, so there's no telling really. I personally feel comfortable running the stock plug with this ammunition. Still good to have if I ever buy other 30-06 ammo for whatever reason, however.
