I've looked into Android head units. joying seems to be leading the market. Their latest HU is Single Din, but has a detatchable face that is 10" (little bigger than double din). My bigger hangup with these units is they do not support HD Radio and dont look to anytime soon.

As far as apps, anymore I typically only use Waze (its a google nav app). I actually have the Android Auto on home screen, but haven't used it since I started using Waze...
