The reason they do this is because they know they can get away with it. I had a similar experience with my Sharp TV. I got someone who could barely speak a lick of English (Heaven forbid) and basically told me I was married to it. Didn't even try to offer me a discount on a new model. The Samsung I'm staring at right now, however, seems to be doing good. I think I know part of the reason why perhaps these companies know they can get away with it. I see two types of people here that aren't helping. First, you have the guy who will just keep buying the same thing or anything without second thought, just casually excepting it and spending his money. Pretty cut and dry here. The second is a little more involved, and I'll use two examples to demonstrate my point beyond just saying 'fanboys'. First example: Colt. When I was looking to buy my first AR-15 I wanted a good one. Not some cheap rifle, but something that would last. Naturally, I thought of Colt. So I started researching, and I found out that Colt today is not at all what they were cracked up to be. For $1000, I could have bought a run of the mill, standard 20" direct impingement AR15A4 with a 30 round magazine. That's as standard as it possibly gets with this platform. You can liken it to a very base model vehicle and you aren't far off. I watched a couple reviews and you know what that expensive rifle came in? A cardboard box. Not a cardboard sleve with a case inside, just raw cardboard, not even any foam or reinforcement. I also read several people complaining of poor quality anodizing. Either it being blotchy or not durable, etc. Now here's what really drives this one home. If you complain about another rifle not being up to par, you get told "Should have bought a Colt!" If you complain about the Colt, you get told "It's a tool, it's not supposed to be perfect." Needless to say I have no use for Colt or their fanboys. Windham Weaponry for me. Now despite that Colt went bankrupt at one point, that didn't seem to change anything. No lightbulbs going off in any of the CEO's heads, nothing. Second example, and I'm sure you all saw this one coming. Apple. Much like the Colt fanboys, Apple can do no wrong and everything else is inferior. It's all a stroke of genius that we simple minded folk simply don't understand, according to them, anyway. These two types of people I believe are what keeps these companies doing what they're doing because they know their bottom line will be nice and cushy as always. Maybe if a few more companies went bankrupt because of this kind of quality and customer service, the industry might change it's tone a bit. But.... Well, good luck with that. Today is the era of the offended and the entitled. I think I threw up in my mouth a little....
