I come home yesterday to find my wife's nephew in the garage with his car on jack stands and my tools all over the place. I told him it is a violation of the first degree punishable by death to use a person's tools without express direct permission from tool owner. He replied that my wife told him it was OK. She may not make it alive through this week.

He spent 5 hours on the front brakes with nothing to show. Car on stands, wheels off and that is it! He is following instructions on utube and is confident it can be done. Well, I stepped in and gave him some pointers and we removed the calipers only to find stuck slide pins. I got the pins out this morning using the help of a torch only to find out that he ordered new calipers including the mounting brackets because he thought the pins would never come out. Noobs. Never say never to a guy with a torch!

I did tell him not to install the calipers without me there. Cannot imagine the damage that could be done if not done correctly.

Anyway, I have to hand it to the kid for having the gumption to tackle it and have to hand it to him for being wise enough to use my garage as a workspace knowing he can count on me to help out.
