My guess is that pistol has a similar story that a shotgun of my father's has. My father's father had a 20 gauge break action (which was passed down after he passed). I recall being told that he bought it soley for use in the woods. He had a nice shotgun at the time, I think a Beretta, but it was so nice he couldn't justify taking it out where it would get marked up real quick. He sold it and bought the 20 gauge break action. What kind of condition it was in when he first obtained it, I don't know, but now it's far from perfect. Chipped/dented furniture, rusted/pitted metal. However, it's action still works nice and freely and its still plenty safe to shoot. The bore is nice and clean, however. If it was an 870 or something you could buy parts for, I'd probably have it reblued and then install nice new wood furniture, brought back to it's former glory and all. However, it's very obscure. Just went into my .docx where all the info on our guns is kept. It's a Savage Arms – Stevens Model 94 – Series M.
