Based on what I could find, the serial says it's a november '44 production rifle. I can't wait to pull the trigger on her.

I'm thinking about getting a russian GP-5 gasmask in black. Only issue is my mother (for some reason) is petrified of gasmasks in general. I figure if I keep it out of sight I'll be fine. THat's easy enough to do with all the ammo boxes I've got, considering two 50s and one 30 is empty. I could easily dedicate the 30 to the gasmask.

Speaking of ammo boxes, I'm in need of a numbering system. It's getting hard to remember what's in what box. I'm thinking the 50s will be prefixed '50-', then numbered in order from 1 to 8, or higher if I get more.

So, 50-1 would be 50 cal ammo box #1. 50-2, 50 cal ammo box #2, and a similar system for the 30 cal boxes. I just need to mark them with like a yellow sharpie or something. I was thinking a paint marker but those are like 4 bucks or more a whack, and stenciling them on would be quite a chore.
