A lot of people do it and tires are sold as take offs.  

We pit about 30k on our 2015 tahoe and I was in doing an oil change.  Dealer had a set of brushed oem wheels(mine were chrome) with tires for $1000.  Tires had 100-200 miles.  Previous owner decided to go with 22s.  I bought them, and sold my chrome wheels for 700.  Bang, brand new tires for $300 bucks when theyre normally 1000+
