It all depends on where the truck was from and how well it was taken care of. I have a 2000 with the original "shackles" from the factory. My son has a 2002 that the rear shackles had to be replaced on. You have to look at the frame toward the back, if it has an inordinate amount of rust (almost all frames will have powder rust) then the shackles might be toast. Us ranger guys consider replacing rear shackles as periodic maintenance LOL but yes there was a "problem" but it is a relatively cheap fix. Did you check for a recall on your Taco? I have a friend that just had his frame replaced for free because of a recall. AND welcome to F-R!
