I got to fire an M1A yesterday, fairly new model witht he shorter barrel on it. It had a Nikon scope on it but it sat a bit high for my liking. Due tot he design of the gun you couldn't really mount it any lower.

I had to rest the stock against my cheek, and not get the usual cheek weld. I couldn't hit a 100 yard target with it so I peered under the scope at the stock iron sights, bingo on the first round. Good rifle, not sure I'd be willing to pay that much for one though!

I plinked a bunch yesterday, some .38, .45, 9mm, .30-06 and some .223. I had to clean everything when I got home but overall it was a good day of shooting, probably 400 rounds.
