Im going to have to look into that! I would imagine you need an OBDII to USB cord right?
Cord setup is out there but it's probably safe to say that most people today use an ELM327 adapter and bluetooth it over to their lappy. Make sure that whatever adapter you use is fully compliant with CAN bus (ie, the vehicle network protocol your Ranger uses).
