The slapper bars are considered traction bars also. When in acceleration if you are looking at the drivers side the rear axle will twist clockwise, the rubber buts up against the front of the leaf spring in my opinion effective eliminating the front half of the spring and making it solid avoiding any more twist. I had a pontiac astre (vega by pontiac) with a 231 V6 out of a skylark I believe. I ripped the control bar mounts out of the unibody and had to weld new ones in... added the "slapper" bars and the wheel hop went away. Then I welded the spider gears but that's another story :)
