If it has never had cleaner in it and has many miles I feel it knocks so much crap off the side of the tank and fuel lines you stand a chance of making it run worse by clogging filters or injector holes.

It happened twice to me on older vehicles years ago. I wouldn't take the chance, just my opinion though.

That is one thought that did cross my mind.
