The gearbox oil is auto transmission fluid and it should be red. You were looking at the clutch master cylinder - it work a lot like a brake caliper but on the clutch. Gearbox oil will have a fill hole on the side of the transmission. The drain hole is on the bottom. It shouldn't cost much more than an oil change at a Jiffy Lube or Pep Boys.
