I did some research (not anything too deep) and I can reasonably say the Galil did not appear in Vietnam, or any significant amount of them at least, but I do know that tritium sights did exist at the time.
I could not find any information to support that the M16 had tritium sights nor could I find anything to denounce that idea. In my mind I'm looking at it as "Plausible, but unlikely".
