I am not a mechanic but I too have this problem, especially in Low Range but with a little jerking, and backing up and braking, mine comes out of 4X. I have been told, by mechanic friends, that the 4x Actuation Solenoid is going bad but sometime a little lube will help. If the 4x gets stuck engaged, trying backing up and applied the brakes or jerking the truck in a forward motion may get things released. Luck.
